Tottenham‘s Didier Zokora has been chastised in the English media for allegedly taking a dive in a recent game against Portmouth, which led to a penalty that earned the points for Tottenham. But are they being too harsh on the Ivorian hard man?....
Didier Zokora, Cote D'Ivoire and Tottenham Midfielder
Ivory Coast and Tottenham midfielder Didier Zokora has been recently rounded on in the English media for going to ground when he appeared to be tackled by an opposition player. However video replays showed that no contact was made. The action however earned Zokora’s team a penalty which turned out to be the match winner for his team.
Zokora’s actions earn his team a win, a win that they were in dire need of having gone a series of poor results. However it has also brought unwanted attention as Zakora has been labeled everything from a diver to a cheat in the English press.
By going down, he has not broken any rules and he whether he lost his balance as he claims, is neither here or there. So are the press being fair on Zokora, shouldn’t a player he all he can within the rules of the game to earn his team a win. Should have Zokora been a “proper gentleman” and stayed on his feet, and only gone down if there was a clear and blatant foul on him? It is your shout.
