Now that Jacob Zuma has seen the two cases of rape and corruption against him thrown out the court, he is seems ready to hit the road to garner up support for his bid for the Presidency of South Africa.

While no one can dispute the popularity of Zuma amongst South African people, should this man be at the helm of affairs in the African continent’s largest economy. There are those who think not, like the Nobel Peace Prize winner and one of South Africa’s most famous sons, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who warned the country that it should not contemplate electing former Vice-President Jacob Zuma to the top job.

While the 2007 ANC congress is still a while away, Zuma has emerged as the front runner as the ticket holder for the party. However is not all smooth sailing for the former Vice President, as the National Prosecuting Authority can still launch renewed charges against him.

Whatever the outcome of that, the questions remains should a man who has been dragged through the law courts for corruption and rape, despite being not found guilty on both occasions, even consider running for the president of any country? However since he has not been found guilty and he is a free man, should he be allowed to continue his bid for the presidency? It is your shout, let us know what you think.

I don't think he should run as he has been tainted. No matter the outcome of the cases, the fact of the matter is that he has exercised poor judgement and has allowed himself to be put in position that allowed the cases to be brought against him.

Besides there is the possibility that another court case can be brought up against him. South Africa doesn't need this, as it needs to really that demonstrating that it is indeed a leader on the African continent.

We do not need another African leader (most of them despost and egomaniacs) who integriry is in question. If south africa fails in that respect, then there is little hope for the continent.
