Like most of North Africa and the Middle East, Egypt is generally viewed as a bastion of Islamic conservatism and this conservatism has always been seen as an impediment to the development of female sports including football.
However there are changes at the grassroots as the football begins to breakdown boundaries and open itself to the soccer loving female population of Egypt as active participants.
