An interview with Sheyi Adebayor of Togo and Arsenal

It is has been a mixed year for Arsenal's striker Sheyi Adebayor.

The year saw him lead one of Africa's smallest countries to the 2006 World Cup in Germany. It was a great opportunity for Togo and Adebayor to show the world their ability on the football pitch but sadly they were let down by bickering between the players and the officials that badly affected and ultimately overshadowed their debut.

This came on the back of an equally forgettable appearance in the 2006 African Cup of Nations in Egypt where again a dispute between Adebayor and the then Togolese coach Stephen Keshi put the teams preparation in complete disarray and directly led to their early knockout from the competition.

On a personal level this summer was unveiled as a new signing for Arsenal before the World Cup, a timely move for Adebayor as his relationship with his old club Monaco appeared to have broken down completely by then.

In the interview Adebayor reveals his is originally from Osun state in Nigeria and also expresses admiration for his footballling hero, Portsmouth striker and Nigerian International Nwankwo Kanu.

the interview was recorded at a benefit concert to support Kanu's Heart Foundation Charity
