Egypt secured a huge morale boost after they beat reigning World Champions Italy in their second match at the ongoing FIFA confederations cup in South Africa. The Egyptian matched the world champions in all the department of the game and their slick passing game gave the Italians a lot to worry about throughout the match. Egypt went ahead in 40th minute after a beautifully weighted corner kick from Mohamed Aboutrika was met by Mohammed Homos who was left in acres of space by a disorganised Italian defence. Once ahead the resoluteness of the Egyptians withstood several increasingly desperate attempts by the Italians to pull level. Egyptian goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary was the hero on the night as he made several world class saves. Egypt are now level on points with Italy and behind Brazil in their group after an close fought 4-3 defeat to the Brazilians at the beginning of the week. The next match for the Pharaohs is against the USA on Sunday.
