In the wake of the rise of the Nigerian movie industry, Nollywood, more African countries are looking inwards to develop programming for their audiences. Kenya is a leading example of a country where this trend has taken hold.

The major TV networks are now filling their schedules increasingly with local programmes as audience appetite for Western programmes diminishes. Programmes like Tahidhi High, Churchill Live, Makutano Junction, Cobra Squad, Wash & Set and Papa Shirandula now dominate the airwaves as this report shows.
