Mr Fashola took office in 2007 and since then he has been dubbed the ‘action governor’ due to his no-nonsense and down-to-earth approach to Lagos’s problems. New bridges have been built and efforts have been made to reduce the state’s traffic standstill.
One of the most important changes Mr Fashola has brought to Lagos is that he has convinced more people than ever before to pay their taxes. In a city of over 18 million people this has made a real difference, allowing the young governor to invest in the city’s infrastructure as this video illustrates.
