The Saharan cheetah, also known as the Northwest African Cheetah, is a solitary and semi-nomadic animal. It is thought that there could be less than 250 mature Saharan cheetahs remaining in existence. Researchers from the Zoological Society of London have captured some rare footage of the elusive creature.
Using a systematic camera trap, researchers based in Algeria were able to survey the animals over a period of time. The data collected will be used to provide information on the movements of the animals and their population numbers and help in the fight to preserve this rare creature.
