It seems a lot of political leaders in Europe are struggling to come to terms with thought of an African-American poised to enter the White House, first there was Silvio Bersculoni who thought a joke about a ‘tanned’ Obama was a seemly comment to come from the Italian President. Not to be outdone in slurs against Obama is the Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sirkoski.

Sirkoski was reported by a fellow Polish MP who recounts the foreign minister as saying “Have you heard Obama may have a Polish connection? His grandfather ate a polish missionary”.

The comment has been confirmed by a Polish Government official who disingenuously claimed that it was not meant to insult Obama’s family who are Kenyan on his father’s side.

Unsurprisingly for a country with a long history of racism and intolerance the Polish political elite have deemed the issue not worthy of comment.
