Algerian born French fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent’s ashes are to be scattered in his garden of his villa in Marrakech, Morocco. This would be followed by another ceremony in the next-door Majorelle botanical gardens owned by the designer.
Yves Saint Laurent passed away on the 1st of June aged 17 after being diagnosed with a brain tumour. A burial was held for him last week in Paris and was attended by 800 mourners from across the world.
Saint Laurent spent a lot of this time in Morocco with his long term partner Pierre Berge and was greatly influence by the country’s culture. In a career spanning four decades, he changed the face of fashion with trademark designs like his women's trouser suits. He is respected as one the greatest fashion designer of the 20th century. Saint Laurent retired from haute couture in 2002 and had been ill for some time.
