The joint invasion forces comprising African Union (AU) and Comoran troops have begin consolidating control over the island of Anjouan after their successful invasion mission to topple rebel leader Mohamed Bacar.

The mission is now focussing on quelling isolated pockets of resistance from forces loyal to Bacar and launching a search for the rebel leader, although it is believed he has already fled Anjouan.

A Comoran government spokesman has said they have information that Bacar fled, disguised as a woman, to the neighbouring island of Mayotte a French dependency. The government has already issued an international arrest warrant.

Footage below shows the AU and Comoros troops in action on Anjouan and resistance from Comoran rebels.
