Supermodel’s body found by river. The body of Katoucha Niane, a supermodel originally from Guinea has been discovered by the banks of River Seine in Paris a month after she had gone missing.

French police have confirmed that a body discovered by the River Siene is that of missing supermodel Katoucha Niane. Her body was discovered by a passer-by close to Garigliano Bridge a month after she went missing.

Police are considering the possibility that Katoucha who lives on a houseboat on the Siene may have accidentally fallen in the river and currently are not looking at foul play being involved.

Katouche Niane was born in Conakry, Guinea in 1960 and rose to fame as one of the first black women to break into modelling for the top European fashion houses. Over the span of her career she was variously the face of Yves Saint Laurent as well as modelling for Thierry Mugler, Paco Rabanne and Christian Lacroix.

In later years she became a vocal opponent of female circumcision and in her autobiography “In my Flesh” described how she went through the ordeal as a nine-year old.
